First Day at Starhub
I set my alarm clock at 9am initially...but when it rang, I set it to another time...10, 10.30, 10.45...and finally I woke up at 10.52am...I left home for work at 12.15...It was raining..I felt like not turning up but I guess I should go...It's not nice to 'ponteng' on the first day...I went to West Mall first to take a passport sized photo of myself...Parry asked for it the day before...When I reached 'Synergy'(it's the name of the office where we had to go before we set off to different locations), it was about 1.30...When I came in, the rest of them were in another room for their briefing...When I came to join them, Max(another Starhub officer) already taught the rest about the five steps sales technique..I only learned about EDIA..it's another sales technique...After that, Parry gave us our uniforms..It's actually a white T-shirt but it doesn't look ugly...There's a few designs but I got the one with 'I am a MUSIC hub' printed on the back of the shirt and 'I am going to ROCK ON' printed on the front...And guess what? The words were in purple...(Jays will love it..won't cha?) I actually liked the MOVIE one cause it says 'I'll see you in Hollywood'..cool eh?...Anyways..for my first day, I had to follow Sofyan and Gerald..They're both my seniors in this job...Our location was Bedok interchange...When we set off, it was raining...
We took the train from Chinatown to Bedok...When we arrived, it was about 4pm...The equipments we had were 5 big poster boards and 2 poster board stands. Obviously we had our brochures and forms etc....After a few minutes, my seniors left me there cause they wanted to buy food...I wasn't sure if I could stand there alone...a part of me wants the customers to drop by and ask things...a part of me didn't want them to be serious customers because I don't know how to fill in the forms and everything else....But there were a few people who dropped by to ask about the current promotions and stuff...I explained to them a bit and gave them a brochure...There were about 3 or 4 people whom I gave the brochures to...but when Sofyan came back, he told me to remember to write my name and contact number on the brochures because that's how the person is gonna call you..and then you'll have a deal...I was like..My GOD lah...There goes 3 deals....No deal, no money...So then we stood there, waiting for customers...when they stopped to look, I would ask them 'Cable TV for you sir/maam?' Some would say yes and most would say no...But most of them wanted to ask about MaxOnline...I am not very clear about MaxOnline so I would rather deal with Cable TV...but when they ask, I'll hand them over to my seniors...
Here's an incident which made me felt so DUMB!!! The time was about 6+...I was getting bored and restless..my feet started to hurt...my right arm started to ache...A Caucasian couple stopped to look at our booth...they were nearer to me so I approached them..The man was interested in both MaxOnline and Cable TV...Then the lady asked how long it will take for the equipments to be installed...I STUPIDLY told her.. 10 DAYS!!!! She was like 'Oh my goodness...10 days?? That's really long'...I told her that I wasn't sure cuz I'm still new..So I got Sofyan to help me out....He talked about the promotions...the couple wanted to install it themselves but I was told by Parry yesterday that it's not advisable to do cash and carry...It's better if Starhub's technicians go down and install it...But this couple 'DIE DIE' also want to do cash and carry but they thought if they sign up with us there, they can't bring the things home immediately..but if they go to Starhub shops, they can get it immediately...Sofyan told them again that it's not 10 days....He sounded shocked when the lady mentioned that it will take 10 days lah...I didn't know where to hide my face at that time....Because of me, the couple decided to still wanna go to Starhub shop so that they can get it immediately...So we told them it's ok...But when they left, I apologized to my seniors...Sofyan said it was ok but we LOST 2 DEALS!!! I felt SOOOOO GUILTY!!! But hey, I think even if I didn't say 10 days, they 'die die' also wanna go Starhub shop what...right??? To make things worst, It rained at about 7...the wind blew so strong that our poster boards were almost blown away and 1 fell flat onto the ground....People almost stepped on it....AND to add on to that, my set of brochures were BLOWN AWAY!!! By the time we got back inside the MRT station, the brochures were dirty and wet....At first Gerald and Sofyan thought of setting the booth somewhere else but they gave up...I even heard Sofyan said that it's not his day lah...I think he thinks because I'm there today, he didn't get to earn anything...Only Gerald earned 1 customer today...me, obviously ZERO lah!!!
Ok...here's something funny:
Gerald: You can go home now if you want and no need to go to the office...
Me: Nah..I think I'm going to the office....
Gerald and Sofyan: What???
Me: I need to give something to Parry...
Gerald and Sofyan : WHAT???
Me: I NEED TO GIVE MY PHOTOS TO FAIRY!!!!
Gerald and Sofyan: ?????
Me: EH WAIT..sorry sorry..Parry...
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Ok ok...so then we got back to office, Parry wasn't there so I left my photos with Gerald(I bet he's gonna laught at it)...Sofyan's legs were aching that he had trouble walking...When I left, I told him:
Me: Thank you (shake hands)...Hope you get well soon...
He didn't say anything...
But do you think it sounded sarcastic??? I felt it sounded sarcastic...
Oh well...SO now I'm at home...I need to get my feet massaged using the OTO ELECTRO-REFLEXOLOGY machine....
I felt that this job is quite hard and felt like quitting...Well..it is my first day...Seriously..I only learned yesterday...Of course I'm not really familiar with the services lah...I hope to get used to the job by next Saturday cause I'm not working there on weekdays...only weekends(Thank GOD)..So..tomorrow's another training session at Tanjong Pagar for the telemarketing job...I hope I can do that well....I'm gonna blog my first day there tomorrow so..
