Hey Ya'll!!! Sorry, sorry for not updating me blog! Did you all miss me?? HAHAH.. I know I did. =P Ok ok..enough intro.
In case you didn't know already, I HAVE A JOB NOW!!! Yup!!! From Guardian which is like what..the Pharmaceutical industry? I jumped over walls and land myself in the Food and Beverage industry!! I'm working at Pizza Hut Jurong Point now. Sounds familiar? Cuz it's the same place where Aqmar works at.
As a newbie, I had to attend 4 days of training from Tuesday to Friday.
On the 1st day of training, I WAS LATE! It wasn't my fault. I had a test from 5.15 to 6.45. The training was supposed to start at 5pm. But I already informed the manager so she already knew. As I was very, very nervous, and I kept saying how I'm going to melt on the floors of Pizza Hut, Aqmar dropped me off at the restaurant so that I wouldn't be so blur and stuff. The supervisor there is Ina. I've met her before. She gave me my uniform and asked me to look through the menu. She then went through the menu with me. Like all the ingredients and stuff. Wow..I learned a few trade secrets along the way...hehehe I guess that was all I did that day because the 'lecture' took quite a while. Before I know it, it was time to go home.
On the 2nd day, I got to experience hands on with real customers. I did CSR which is the hosting thing. I keep stumbling on words and I couldn't open the menu properly and stuff. So yeah... I also learnt the table numbers. Wow...it's not as complex as I thought it was. And then...I learnt how to take orders and keying them into the system. There's a lot of things that I need to remember when taking orders. Like what to inform customers and stuff. There's always a few must have things that you need to tell the customers which I always tend to forget. Keying the orders into the system is quite scary for me. I'm very slow at it. I will like confuse myself and I just feel like crying out loud!! But then, I managed to take correct orders so yeah!
On the 3rd day, I served food and drinks. I enjoyed it. I felt that for me to learn the menu is through serving the food. It was scary at some point when that "food window" is overloaded with food! And for me, I can only carry like 1 - 3 dishes at a time so I was like very panicky!
On the 4th day, it was my final day of training! I was thought how to do busser (Pronounced as buzzer). Basically, it's the collecting of empty plates and setting of table. People might find this a dirty job but I ENJOYED IT! It's less stressful than taking orders! I was then told to do everything that I have learned so far like taking orders, serving the food and drinks etc. And then...I "GRADUATED"!!!
The following day which is a Saturday, my mum accompanied me to the clinic at Jurong Point to get myself the typhoid injection. You know the only reason why I never tried working F & B before is because of this one injection???!!! I was freaked out but I tried to overcome my fear. I dared not look at the needle as I thought I would faint. Before I know it, the doctor said it was done. I was so shocked! I probably felt a slight pinch but that was just it! I pondered at the number of years I wasted fearing about this silly injection.
Yesterday was the 1st day of Chinese New Year. It was also my first official day at work!!! The people there are really nice. The manager told me I was going to do busser-ing that day. I was very happy. I tried to do everything right. I made sure I worked fast though the rest of them told me to slow down. I felt that if I were to slow down, I was going to lose the momentum. I had clumsy moments yesterday. Here's some: - I dropped the cutleries a few times - I spilled the glasses of water onto the table while I was collecting the plates - I got water splashed on my shirt - I dropped a lasagne while making my way to the bar counter - I sent the wrong bill to the wrong customer
...hmm...what else??? - I dropped the empty pizza boxes while trying to take it from the top.
Just when I thought the day would get worst, a customer actually complimented on my service. She asked if I was a student from Shatec. I said no, I'm a student from SP. I asked her why she asked and she said the way I do things is as if I've been taught by this teacher who's very good there. I was flattered. I kept thanking her and before I know it, she spoke to my manager, Erwin who then gave me 10 bucks from the customer. I COULD NOT HAVE BEEN HAPPIER!!!
Considering that it was only my first day at work and I got such compliments, it really brightened the rest of the night! I know that I probably shouldn't be too happy but then again, I'm happy with myself!!!
When I do my work, the songs that kept playing in my head are obviously Hannah songs. These are the specific lines that kept me going: - "Nobody's perfect! I've got to work it! Again and again till I get it right!" - "Don't let anyone tell you that you're not strong enough" There's a lot more that I need to learn. I just have to keep doing things right and mistakes are never allowed!! YEAH!!! Ok..that was very lengthy. Feast your eye on this: Hannah Montana: The Movie poster is out!!! she look pretty??? The trailer is out too! Check it out here!!
